Creative Energy Meditations

These meditative visualizations are designed for creative people, writers, artists, performers and anyone who wishes to gain greater access to their true self, the source of their creative energy. This is for those who are seeking ways to keep their creativity flowing. These meditations are here for you to use for yourself or share with a friend. If you intend to use them as a teaching tool I'd like to know. I am available for designing personalized meditations for individuals and groups.

In the beginning...
Assume that accessing your true creative self requires little effort, that it's easy, and it will be. Just by thinking, imagining, or wanting, your energy flows. You already know how to do this though you may not think about it consciously. You can spend one minute or one hour, whatever feels right. The specific images mentioned here are only suggestions. If something else pops into your head, use it. There is no right and no wrong, only energy. If something here doesn't feel good to you, don't use it. Take only what works for you and discard the rest. Above all else, enjoy yourself and smile, for there is no better place from which to access creative energy than from a space of no effort.

Meditation 1-Managing your space, basic tools
Shut your eyes. Oops, now you won't be able to read this. Okay, read this first, then shut your eyes. Imagine a connection between the base of your spine and the center of the planet. (we're talking planet Earth here, unless you're from Tipania, then we're talking Tipania). This connection can be a cord made of light, water, chain, ball point pens, slinkies, trees, pickles--whatever you desire at that moment in time. (Women, connect your ovaries, or the spaces where they would be to the top of your grounding cord at the base of your spine.)
This grounding connection holds you within your space and allows unwanted energy to flow out. The cord will act like a lightning rod so you can release unwanted energy, out of your space. Now, just imagine that you are releasing any unwanted energy from your space. Visualize it moving from your body down into your grounding cord. You may see colors, or images, or nothing. Whatever it is for you, is good. Don't try to fit some notion or idea of energy, just let whatever is, be. This is all simple--"Unwanted energy, go." And so it goes.
After you have released unwanted energy you will need to fill up those places with the energy of your true self, your creative energy. Imagine a golden ball or sun forming above your head filling with your own healing energy. You can picture it coming from specific places (like work or home or people) or you can just send out a general, "I want my energy to come back to me now." Picture the ball getting bigger and bigger as it fills. When the ball is as big as you want and you're ready, lower the ball down through the top of your head, allowing the energy to flow down and bathe your body. Let it fill you up. Repeat if desired (just like shampooing). Revel in how if feels to be filled with your own, true-self energy.
Now, create a special place in the center of your head, a place that is all you, all yours. Design the room to your tastes, no one else's. Make it a comfortable place for you to be. Perhaps you want a place to sit. Or not. Put as much or little in this room as you desire. Walls, no walls. Art, no art. Do not conform to any specifications except your own.
After you have completed your room, picture yourself in the room-a miniaturized version of yourself. Enjoy being there. Walk around, sit, sing, or just be. Being there will give you a sense of how it feels to be in the center or your head.
These tools help you gain consciousness about your space which is your spirit and body working together. Once you become conscious of something you can change it, or not. You can use these tools, anyplace, anytime.

Meditation 2-Releasing fear
Fear blocks the doors to true creative self. Most of us spend a great deal of energy keeping that fear piled up because we're afraid to become our true selves. This is because the manifestation of our creativity is unique and once we set it loose we will be different than anyone else. In a society where fitting in seems to count we contort ourselves constantly to blend in. But then we're not living OUR true life. We're not doing what we were born to do-share our own unique creative gifts with the universe and beyond. The challenge then is, without judgment, to permit yourself your own unique expression while allowing others their unique expression and finding joy in the differentness in each of us.
So, how do you open the door to true creative self? How do you stop living according to other's expectations? How do you live with fear?
Imagine you have an energy system, like blood, flowing through your body and around it. Now, manage your space as in Meditation 1 or by any method that works well for you. Next, pick a color that feels good to you and let your energy be that color. Just know that is it.
From that special place in the center of your head, ask yourself where in your body you have fear that's blocking access to your true creative self. Accept whatever answer you get. Your fingernail. Your heart. Your hair. Your butt. If you don't get an answer, make one up. (If at any point you find yourself getting spaced out, when you come back to yourself just continue where you left off). Now, give the fear a name like -Barticus Smelnick. Something that makes you smile. Give the fear a friendly body and a face, personify it in a way that is non threatening to you. If you've made it a person dress it in a way that amuses you. Tutu. Tap shoes and striped knee socks. Whatever. Rainbow fur. Next, imagine yourself walking up to that fear that's residing in your kneecap and shaking its hand or patting it on the head. Notice the door behind the fear. Then simply, gently, move this funny guy/gal/creature aside.
Open the door and allow yourself to see into what's beyone it-a place of radiant abundant creative energy. part of YOU. This can be whatever color, whatever form. This energy is you-your creative energy. Imagine the door dissolving and the energy spilling forth and filling your body.
Repeat this meditation if you want and search for other fears, other doors. Here is my belief. As long as we have a body we will not eliminate all fear. The goal is to acknowledge the fear, make friends with it, and act anyway.
This meditation is one way to start making friends with some of your fears thereby gaining greater access to your true creative self.
     Enjoy.
